Finding your dream wedding gown can be stressful. In fact, VERY stressful! For me, it was also a bit more stressful since my now husband had already seen me in a wedding dress walking down the runway in some fashion shows. So I wanted to make sure that this one was different and would make him say WOW (which I managed to J ). But the struggle to find it was real!
I knew I wanted my dress to be elegant, delicate, romantic and it with a touch of classy sexiness (very subtle). But for sure I wanted something that looked like a wedding gown and not just like a stunning white wedding gown that I could wear to a gala. And I wanted it to have 3 things (in order of preference):
1) ruffles at the bottom,
2) open back
3) delicate straps
To be honest, I didn’t know I wanted ruffles at the bottom (but quickly became a must!) until I fell in love with a dress online that had a beautiful ruffled skirt that happened to be from Morilee (the brand I ended up wearing on my BIG DAY!) This is how I discovered the brand. Just browsing and browsing online! However, that gown was from an older collection so it wasn’t available anymore. But it was for the best, because my gown was THE gown!
For some reason it was SO complicated to find a gown that had those 3 things that I was looking for. The gown that had thing no. 1 and 2 would miss no.3 or viceversa. I honestly went to over 10 boutiques in Toronto, and even tried to call places in Montreal and the USA to see if they had the gowns models I was looking for and no luck. And it was extra hard because my mum lives in Spain and I really missed her during my appointments. I actually cried on my first appointment because I felt so sad not having my mum with me. However, she then flew here to Toronto so that she could help me out, and of course we then found THE gown. You can see here a video with my mum wedding gown shopping right after I picked her up from the airport. different gowns. Can you spot mine?
I ended up saying YES to this GORGEOUS GOWN from Morilee:
It had everything I was looking for and my face lighted up every time I tried it on. It was delicate, elegant, and classy. And the open back was to die for with those delicate criss cross straps. The beaded embroidery made it look so sophisticated. And the flounced skirt was just perfect, not too dramatic but big enough to give that wedding look I was going for. And most importantly, my husband absolutely loved it!!! YEY! My favorite part of the wedding is the way he looked at me when I walked down the aisle. I saw so much love in his eyes. I still cant get over this magical moment! He also couldn’t stop telling me how beautiful I looked. I walked down with a double veil; one covering my face as I really wanted that special moment when the groom lifts the veils.
I honestly felt amazing with this dress and everybody loved it. This one is from Morilee’s 2018 Fall Collection. All their gowns are literally spectacular and there is something for every style and shape. I actually debated between 2 so much because they are ALL so pretty that you can’t just choose one. If you, a family member or your friend is looking for STUNNING and jaw-dropping gowns at a great price point, tell them to check out Morilee. You can also check their Instagram for some inspo. I promise you will not be disappointed. They also have beautiful dresses for bridesmaids and wedding guests, and even for Prom. Hopefully I have a wedding to attend next year so that I can wear another of their dresses, but this time as a guest! Can’t wait!
